Tegan and Sara Make the Polaris Prize Shortlist...Again!
Ladies of the Canyon's new album, Diamond Heart, is now available to pre-order from the band's newly relaunched official website, as well as on iTunes. Fans who pre-order the CD from the official site will be sent a link to stream the entire album until the release date, while the iTunes pre-order includes the first single, "You and All Your Famous Friends", as an instant download. Having begun their career playing small venues in Montreal's popular Mile-End neighborhood, Ladies of the Canyon are inspired by a "countrified" 1970s Californian soft-rock sound, which ultimately lead to their nomination for a Canadian Country Music Association award. Over the three years since the release of their 2010 debut album, however, they evolved into a darker, inevitably louder style - what would eventually become Diamond Heart. You can check out their tour dates here. Described as "assured" and "quite gorgeous" by the Toronto Star, the Ladies have "created a shimmering homage to mid- 70s Southern California pop". The Calgary Herald raves, "the album is a refreshing Pacific Coast country-rock breeze, blowing gorgeous harmonies and melodies across the beaches and valleys of the California landscape". Don't worry. In the Canyon, its only 1973.
