The Low Anthem To Join City And ColourâS Cross Canada Tour
September 11 2011

(September 26, 2011 -- Toronto, ON) Nonesuch recording artists The Low Anthem have been hand picked by Dallas Green to be the opening act for 2012 Canadian tour headlined by City And Colour. The Providence, Rhode Island-based band have been on tour in support of their 2011 critically acclaimed album Smart Flesh.

Released in February of 2011, Smart Flesh has received near universal praise. Rolling Stone magazine and the U.K.âs Mojo, Uncut and Q magazineâs all lauded the album with four star reviews while Clash Magazine said âthe sound of Smart Flesh is like nothing youâve ever heard...this is the human condition set to music.â

Quietly dynamic, The Low Anthemâs live shows are nothing if not surprising. The band moves from a whisper to a scream with the flick of a wrist. Their music is often described as muted yet they are just as likely to blast through an uncompromising blues stomp as they are to paint an ethereal musical soundscape. The bandâs musicians (Ben Knox Miller, Jeff Prystowsky, Jocie Adams and newest addition Mike Irwin) all contribute vocally throughout the set and easily move around the stage exchanging instruments from one song to the next.

The City And Colour tour kicks off in Vancouver on January 19, 2012 and wraps up in St. Johnâs, NL on February 25, 2012, with a few stops in USA border towns along the way. Pre-sale begins tomorrow, Tuesday September 27 at 10AM local time in each city and runs until Thursday, September 29, while pre-sale quantities last. Fans will be able to purchase tickets, during the pre-sale, directly from cityandcolour.ca/tour.

Before the City and Colour tour, the band will be the special guest openers for their longtime friends The Barr Brothers at their Montreal album release show at La Tulipe on October 18th. Tickets for that show are now on sale.
