Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has set details for their much-anticipated summer headline tour. The dates celebrate the upcoming release of the acclaimed bandâ€™s eagerly awaited new album, â€œCODES AND KEYS,â€ which arrives in stores and all online retailers on May 31st.
Death Cab for Cutie will hit the road beginning July 27th at Columbus, Ohioâ€™s LC Outdoor Amphitheater, followed by major shows across the U.S. and Canada. Pre-sale tickets to most of the newly announced dates will be available starting on Friday, April 29th at www.dcfcunion.com; all remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public May 6-8. All shows to feature acclaimed band Frightened Rabbit as support.
Furthermore, Death Cab for Cutie will also be amongst the top acts appearing at Montrealâ€™s upcoming Osheaga Festival, slated for July 31st. The new tour dates follow Death Cab for Cutieâ€™s imminent North American tour of intimate venues, all of which are long sold out and begin May 18th at Torontoâ€™s Phoenix Concert Theatre. In addition, a series of additional live shows are slated in and around the bandâ€™s native Pacific Northwest, including headline dates in Edmonton, Calgary and Bend, Oregon, as well as a May 28th headline appearance at the 2011 Sasquatch! Music Festival at George Washingtonâ€™s Gorge Amphitheater.
Long known for their ingenious and imaginative videos, Death Cab for Cutie recently made history with the companion clip for their extraordinary new single, â€œYou Are A Tourist.â€ Directed by award-winning filmmaker Tim Nackashi (TV On The Radio, OK Go, Elvis Costello, Radiohead), and conceptualized by frequent collaborator Aaron Stewart-Ahn, â€œYou Are A Touristâ€ is the first-ever live, scripted, single-take music video to be broadcast as it is filmed.
