The Angry Kids DJ/Production Duo Sign Record Deal With Warner Music Canada
September 18 2012

Warner Music Canada is pleased to announce the signing of Canada's hottest, DJ/production/hit-song remix team The Angry Kids to a record deal.

The chart-topping duo â best known for their nationally-syndicated show on Astral radio stations across Canada â will release their self-titled debut album on October 30, 2012. The record features 9 original songs, as well as fully-cleared sample-based productions featuring artists such as Bob Marley, Nik Kershaw and A Flock Of Seagulls. The first single, âAnnie Taylor,â is a re-work of a track by Portland, Oregon band The Lives of Famous Men, about Annie Edson Taylor, the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The track is now available at all digital retailers.

"We don't rely on the shortcuts that we see so many others fall victim to. We DJ live with two decks and a mixer; and we don't hire people to produce our songs, pay them off, then slap our names on it. We pride ourselves on being able to look at what bears our name on it and say- WE DID THIS!â says Ryan Wilock, one half of The Angry Kids.

"When we started working on the project seven years ago, we agreed that we only wanted to work alongside people who shared the same vision as us. We found this at Warner. It was a natural fit for our records," adds Jeff Beck.

The Angry Kids will be headlining the street party at Nuit Blanche in Toronto on September 29. More details to be announced soon.

Already making noise worldwide on the club scene as both producers and DJs, The Angry Kidsâ radio show The Hit Fix can be heard daily on Virgin Radio in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary , Montreal, London and Winnipeg, and Fredericton, NBâs Capital FM, with more markets soon to be added.

The duoâs skills in the studio also positions them as leading remixers. The Angry Kids have remixed tracks from such artists as Lights (Saviour), 30 Seconds to Mars (Hurricane), DJ Tiesto (Feel It In My Bones featuring Tegan & Sara), City and Colour (Fragile Bird) and Victoria Duffield (Feel).

The Angry Kids â Ryan Wilock and Jeff Beck â hit No. 1 in Canada on the National Dance Chart with their single âMr. Brownâ (featuring the legendary Bob Marley). The follow-up single âWouldnât It Be Goodâ (featuring the â80âs hit by pop icon Nik Kershaw) recently hit No. 3 on the UK Club Breakers chart, and a No. 34 debut on the UK Club Chart (unprecedented for an indie group), eventually peaking at No. 15.
