AUGUST 30, 2012

Emblem/Atlantic recording group Matchbox Twenty has announced a jam-packed schedule celebrating next weekâs release of their highly anticipated new album, âNORTH.â The collection â which includes the hit single, âSheâs So Meanâ â arrives this Tuesday, September 4th.
The days ahead will see Matchbox Twenty making a variety of high profile TV appearances, beginning with a headline installment of the âToyota Concert Seriesâ on NBCâs TODAY, set to air live from New York Cityâs Rockefeller Plaza on Monday, September 3rd. Next up, the band will hit the stage of the legendary Ed Sullivan Theatre for a Wednesday, September 5th appearance on CBSâ Late Show with David Letterman. As if that werenât enough, frontman Rob Thomas will be among the guests on the Friday, September 7th edition of CNNâs Piers Morgan Tonight (check local listings).

âNORTHâ â which is streaming now in its entirety on the iTunes Store â has already begun to receive critical acclaim. Rolling Stone hailed the album as âpacked with U2-ish anthems and up-tempo electro jams,â while Billboard noted that âtracks like âOur Songâ ride a glitchy, new wave synth hook into a hand clap-heavy chorus,â while ââSheâs So Meanâ is backed by a foot-stomping beat that wouldnât sound out of place on a runway during Fashion Week.â

Speaking of which, Matchbox Twenty will make an exclusive visit to New York Cityâs Bloomingdaleâs as part of the 4th annual Fashion Night Out celebration. The in-store event â slated for 6:30 pm at the Menâs Lower Level of Bloomingdaleâs illustrious 1000 Third Avenue location â follows the bandâs recent cover appearance on the storeâs influential âBest of Menâsâ catalog.
Thomas will also be seen this fall as a mentor on the upcoming third season of NBCâs smash singing competition, The Voice. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter â who recently co-hosted an installment of ABCâs LIVE! With Kelly â will join Cee Lo Greenâs team, working with contestants and giving them tips before their performances. The Voice premieres September 10th on NBC (check local listings).

Last, but most certainly not least, Matchbox Twenty will be among the biggest stars at Londonâs upcoming iTunes Festival 2012. The band will headline Camdenâs famed Roundhouse on September 19th. A full-scale world tour is currently in the works âwith Australian dates already announced kicking off October 20th in Melbourne. For a full listing of tour dates check

Matchbox Twentyâs fourth full-length studio recording and first all-new album in a decade, âNORTHâ sees the band driving their pop-rock sound further forward, magnifying the indelible melodies, crafty lyricism, and glorious hooks that have defined their multi-platinum body of work. Matchbox Twenty â Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook and Brian Yale â lived together last summer in a house in Nashville where they collaborated on the new material before once again joining forces with the Grammy Award-winning producer Matt Serletic at his Emblem Studios in Calabasas, California. The result of their labors stands among the bandâs finest, with songs like âOverjoyedâ and âPut Your Hands Upâ marked by Matchbox Twentyâs instantly identifiable sonic approach and unadulterated high spirits.

âNORTHâ follows Matchbox Twentyâs most recent release, 2007âs CRIA gold certified âEXILE ON MAINSTREAM.â In addition to compiling such classic hits as âPush,â âBent,â and âUnwell,â the album featured six new tracks, including still another smash single, the Steve Lillywhite-produced âHow Far Weâve Come,â which is the bandâs biggest selling single to date. A global tour in support of âEXILE ON MAINSTREAMâ saw the band playing in front of their largest crowds thus far, with sold out shows in North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Matchbox Twenty immediately established themselves as one of modern pop-rockâs most popular and talented new bands with the 1996 release of their blockbuster debut album, âYOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU.â The album generated five extraordinary hit singles â including âLong Day,â âBack 2 Good,â and â3 amâ â on its way to multi-platinum status in Canada. Two further multi-platinum albums followed, with 2000âs âMAD SEASONâ and 2002âs âMORE THAN YOU THINK YOU AREâ each spawning a steady stream of hugely successful singles, including such chart-topping favorites as âIf Youâre Gone,â âDisease,â and âBright Lights.â

In addition to more than 30 million records sold worldwide, Matchbox Twenty has also earned countless accolades, including five Grammy nominations, four American Music Award nods, the 2004 Peopleâs Choice Award for âFavorite Musical Group.â

Whatâs more, Rob Thomas has proven one of the most highly decorated artists of recent years, receiving three Grammy Awards, 11 BMI Awards, and two Billboard âSongwriter of the Yearâ honors for both his chart-topping solo work as well as collaborations with such legends as Santana, Mick Jagger, and Willie Nelson. Thomasâ collaboration with Carlos Santana on âSmoothâ was also named the #2 Most Popular Song Ever on Billboardâs List of the 100 Most Popular songs behind âThe Twist.â He was also named to Billboardâs Top 20 List of Hot 100 Songwriters 2000-2011 at #5 and was the top ranking artist/songwriter on the list.
