"We Are Young" by Fun. Is # 1 - And Platinum - In Canada!
March 21 2012

fun.âs breakthrough hit âWe Are Youngâ (feat. Janelle Monáe) has ascended to the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Canada Singles Chart today. Also today in Canada, the track has been certified platinum.

âWe Are Youngâ is one of the many highlights found on the bandâs newly released Fueled By Ramen album, âSOME NIGHTS.â

The single is further proving a multi-format radio sensation in Canada, scoring Top 5 airplay at Alternative/Modern Rock outlets nationwide. As well, âWe Are Youngâ was the No. 1 most added song at Pop radio in Canada and doubled its overall audience impressions to more than six million.

fun. will celebrate the blockbuster success of âWe Are Youngâ with an eagerly awaited performance on CBSâ Late Show with David Letterman, slated for April 23rd. The appearance follows a recent visit to TBSâ Conan.

fun. recently embarked on a hugely anticipated North American headline tour, with three Canadian stops planned â April 25 at Torontoâs Kool Haus; April 30 at Montrealâs Cabaret du Mile End; and May 1 at Quebec Cityâs Le Cercle.

Revel & Riot, an organization that promotes LGBT rights, awareness and equality through art, design and education resources, will serve as fun.âs official charity partner throughout the spring tour. A specially designed shirt reading âItâs all fun. and gay âtil someone loses their rightsâ is on sale now at all tour dates as well as via the bandâs official webstore, located at All proceeds from sales of the shirt will benefit Revel & Riot. An outspoken advocate for equal rights and marriage equality, fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff recently published the first in a series of blog posts for The Huffington Postâs âGay Voices,â entitled âStraight Allies: The Importance and the Realities.â

Having earned widespread acclaim with their 2009 debut album, âAIM AND IGNITE,â fun. decided to raise the stakes with âSOME NIGHTSâ by teaming with noted producer Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Drake). The band and Bhasker have worked to evolve the idiosyncratic fun. sound by marrying their robust melodies with elements of hip-hop.

In addition to its spectacular popular success, âSOME NIGHTSâ has also earned ecstatic critical praise, with Rolling Stone applauding its blend of âclassic bubble-pop tunefulness with rococo rock & rollâ as well as singer Nate Ruessâ âhuge voice, all snarl and Broadway panache.â SPIN hailed the albumâs âcombination of record-collector bravado and lyrical vulnerability,â singling out âthe towering, thrilling âOne Footââ and âthe do-the-robot opening-to-the-car-with-the-windows-down anthem âIt Gets Better.ââ Perhaps summed it up best in its 9.5-out-of-10 rave: âSOME NIGHTSâ is âthe bold, adventurous and grandiose album that the Top 40 charts needs right now.â NOW Magazine (Toronto) rated the album 4Ns and said âSOME NIGHTSâ âcould be the breakthrough album that propels fun. to the arenas.â
