“Bungalow” makes big moves up Pop radio and Shazam charts

U.S. Tour continuing with Walk Off The Earth

For immediate release

Warner Music Canada recording artist Scott Helman was today announced as a performer on the 2015 MMVAs.  This will mark the debut live national television performance for the Toronto-born singer-songwriter.

Scott Helman is currently riding high on the charts with “Bungalow” the first single from his debut EP Augusta.  After having topped the CBC Radio 2 charts at the end of 2014, “Bungalow” found significant success at Alternative Radio before crossing over to Pop Radio over the past month.  The song is currently moving up the charts at multiple formats including the Top 40 chart where it moved 44 – 35 this past week.  “Bungalow” is also moving up the Shazam chart in Canada where it is currently #33 among all searched songs.  The video is in heavy rotation at both Much and M3.

Scott is currently on tour in the U.S. with Walk Off The Earth who asked him to join them on their 16 date North American tour which makes a stop at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre tomorrow night.  Following the current tour, Scott and his band will spend the summer performing on the stages of a variety of festival shows.  See below for full tour itinerary.

About Scott Helman:

Born and raised in Toronto, Scott’s parents filled the house with music but it was a steady diet of 80’s pop that didn’t really connect with him.  It wasn’t until one rainy day at a friend’s cottage, while listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon, that Scott had the musical epiphany that set him on his way. “From the moment it started I was speechless,” Scott recalls.  “I was amazed at how moved I was by the lyrics. I remember thinking, ‘I want to spend the rest of my life trying to make something half as good as this.’”

Working with producer Tawgs Salter (Lights, Josh Groban, USS) and songwriter Simon Wilcox, Scott discovered new sounds and ideas locked up inside, allowing him to bloom as an artist. In between recording session, Scott and his band spent a good part of 2014 building an audience with their dynamic performances performing with a variety of artists such as Tegan and Sara, Matt Good, Royal Wood, Shawn Mendes and Colin James.
