BIFFY CLYRO WIN NME AWARD FOR BEST BRITISH BAND
February 28, 2013 - Biffy Clyro won the prestigious "Best British Band" award at last night's NME Awards. This is the third NME award for the Glasgow trio; they won "Best Music Video" in 2010 and "Best Live Band" in 2011.
2013 has gotten off to a great start for Biffy Clyro. Their new album, the Garth Richardson-produced Opposites, debuted at #1 in the UK with over 70k sold, and they have been confirmed to headline the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer.
Opposites, which Kerrang! called "a vastly original, exquisitely-produced, fully-realised and creatively outstanding piece of work," will be released in the US and Canada on March 12, 2013. Biffy are performing at Coachella this year and have confirmed a slot opening for Muse on their US tour, which includes two nights at Madison Square Garden. First single, "Black Chandelier" is climbing the charts at Alternative Radio now.
For those in the North America still not familiar with Biffy, Stereogum recently summed up their sound: "guitars as loud and mechanically precise as a Decepticon fighter jet; a pub chorus big enough to fill a stadium; and (front man Simon) Neil's opium-addictive voice, front and center. Listen."
