Fueled By Ramen recording group twenty one pilots have announced plans for their upcoming North American headline tour. The band – currently nominated for the prestigious 2013 MTV “Artist To Watch” Video Music Award – will embark on their “Trip For Concerts – Autumn 2013” trek beginning October 17th at The Cannery in Nashville and then travel through early December (see attached itinerary). The band’s headlining tour will see them perform in Vancouver on November 4 at The Venue. Accompanying twenty one pilots on the tour will be special guests Robert DeLong (10/17 – 11/22), Smallpools (11/25 – 12/5), and Atlantic recording artist Sirah (10/17 – 12/5). Additional dates will be announced soon.
The “Trip For Concerts – Autumn 2013” tour continues twenty one pilots’ nearly non-stop travels, a journey that presently sees the band lighting up European stages with headline showcases and performances at such famous festivals as England’s Reading & Leeds, Belgium’s Pukkelpop and The Netherlands’ Lowlands 2013. From there, twenty one pilots will return home to join Fall Out Boy and fellow Fueled By Ramen recording group Panic! At The Disco on the hugely anticipated “Fall Out Boy Save Rock And Roll Arena Tour 2013,” set to get underway September 5th at Uncasville, Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena and then continue through the month, including a stop at Toronto’s Echo Beach on September 15.
Furthermore, twenty one pilots have unveiled new live footage of their complete performance from their April 26th headline show at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH. The video, which is only available for viewing on The Warner Sound’s official YouTube page until August 25th, captures twenty one pilots’ unrivaled live show in front of a capacity hometown crowd.
twenty one pilots – that is, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun – have earned coast to coast applause for their stellar live shows. “The first great set of Bonnaroo 2013,” exclaimed USA Today, while SPIN recently named the band one of their “40 Best Things We Saw At Outside Lands 2013,” noting that the “acrobatic, emo-rap, screamo-synthpop, cabaret-core duoâ€Â¦wiggle their way into your heart via intense genre hybridization (there’s definitely something for everyone) and their unique charm.” The Columbus, Ohio-based duo will continue spreading the joy with a number of upcoming US festival appearances, including their hometown’s Breakaway Music Festival on Saturday, September 14th and Las Vegas’ Life Is Beautiful Festival on Saturday, October 26th. As if that weren’t enough, twenty one pilots have already booked their first tour of 2014, an Australian arena run supporting their Fueled By Ramen labelmates, Paramore.
“Holding On To You,” the first single from twenty one pilots’ breakthrough label debut, “VESSEL,” has proven an undeniable phenomenon, with its companion video earning twenty one pilots – and director Jordan Bahat (Panic! At The Disco, fun.) – an MTV Video Music Award nomination as “Artists To Watch.” The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday, August 25th at 9 pm ET (check local listings). “Holding On To You” as drawn nearly 4 million views on twenty one pilots’ official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/twentyonepilots.
The band made their national TV debut on TBS’ Conan, performing their latest single “House of Gold.” Watch here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW12O-801Os.
twenty one pilots is without question among the year’s most celebrated new bands, having been named as an MTV 2013 “Artist To Watch” as well as one of Alternative Press’ “2013 Bands You Need To Know” and a Billboard “Bubbling Under” act. “VESSEL” sees the band expanding upon the distinctive fusion of piano-driven indie-rocktronica, ably supported in the studio with superstar producer Greg Wells (Weezer, Aerosmith, Adele, Katy Perry) behind the board.
More recently, Alternative Press Editor-In-Chief Jason Pettigrew named “VESSEL” as his mid-year pick for 2013’s “Best Album,” writing “(Joseph and Dun) have created an album that takes all the empty psychic calories of pop music and replaces them with an existential worldview teeming with self-doubt, neuroses, paranoia and the great hope that at the end of the day, we're all gonna be alright, somehow. Long may they feel.”
Released in January 2013, “VESSEL” follows last year’s Fueled By Ramen debut EP, “three songs,” which featured an exclusive new track alongside revisited versions of songs from 2011’s self-released, “REGIONAL AT BEST.”
Known for their irrepressible on-stage energy, twenty one pilots has also built an avid international national following with their joyous live performances. In addition to innumerable headline shows and tours (including dates in such far-flung locales as Japan and the Republic of Korea), the band has shared stages with such like-minded artists as Paramore, Grouplove and Neon Trees.
